GUIDELINES OF SAFETY OPERATION SAFETY MEASURES > To avoid electric shocks, do not immerse the appliance, plug or power cord in water or any other liquids. Do not use the machine again, until it has been serviced by an authorized service center. > Do not let children use the appliance without supervision. > This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliances by a person responsible for their safety. > If the power cord plug does not fit into your wall socket, consult a qualified electrician. > Use of various adapters may result in damage to the appliance and termination of warranty. > Always use the appliance under supervision. > Always unplug before moving the appliance from one place to another, cleaning and storing. > Never pull the cord to disconnect the appliance, instead grasp the plug firmly and pull it to disconnect. > Do not allow the cord or the machine itself, to come into contact with hot surfaces. > Position the appliance and the cord on a stable surface so that nobody can accidentally overturn it. 4
> Do not use the appliance if it has been dropped, or with a damaged power cord or plug. Do not attempt to modify or repair the machine yourself. > Do not attempt to dismantle the appliance as improper assembly might result in an electric shock during the subsequent use of the equipment. > Repairs should only be done by authorized service centers. > This equipment is intended for household use only, not for commercial or industrial use. > Please follow all the instructions, guidelines and requirements of this guide. > Do not use the appliance if it has mechanical defects (dents, cracks etc.), get it checked by the nearest authorized service center. > To avoid mechanical defects and damage, take care during appliance transportation. SPECIAL SAFETY MEASURES > Make sure that the water level is between the minimum and maximum level before turning the kettle on. Do not overfill the kettle; otherwise it can overflow while boiling. Please, remember that the minimum water level should be higher than the minimum allowed level. > Do not touch the hot surfaces of the appliance. Do not touch the outer surfaces of the kettle with the exception of the heat insulated handle, when water is boiling or with hot water inside the device. > Allow the kettle to cool, prior to cleaning and storing. > Disconnect the appliance from the electricity supply before storage, before filling it with water/emptying it or moving it from one place to another. > The appliance should always be placed and used, on a heat resistant, horizontal and dry surface. > To avoid being burnt by hot vapour always close the lid tightly before use. Avoid exposure to hot vapour. WARNING! Never open the lid immediately before or after boiling temperature is reached. > The kettle is protected against overheating and if switched on without water, an automatic safety cut out device will switch it off. If the safety device is activated, allow the kettle to cool down prior to boiling water in it. The kettle will not switch on if it’s too hot. WARNING! Frequent switching on of the kettle without water might result in the failure of the safety device, that is why prior to switching on the kettle, always check the water level. Always make sure the water level in the kettle is not too low. 5
> Always switch the kettle off prior to lifting it from the base. > Use the kettle only with the supplied base. > Do not fill a hot kettle with cold water or vice versa. WARNING! Avoid sharp temperature fluctuations when filling the kettle with water. > Connect the device only to an electrical supply with a protective earthing. If your socket has no protective earthing, contact a qualified specialist. Do not modify the plug and do not use cord adapters. WARNING! Electric shocks might occur if the kettle is plugged into an unearthed power supply. > Clean the heating element of the kettle often to de- scale it. Remember that use of a heavily scaled kettle might cause it to malfunction. WARNING! De-scale the kettle using only specially designed cleaning agents. > Before turning the kettle on, make sure that the lid is closed; otherwise the kettle will not turn off after boiling. > After use of the appliance, the base of the kettle might be wet. This is normal and is caused by escaping steam, used to activate the kettle’s automatic turn off function. > Do not tilt the filled kettle backwards, since water can spill through the steam vent. If this happens, the kettle should be wiped before turning it on. > Do not take the electric cord out of the socket during operation of the appliance.
